What is Unpitch?
Inspired by conversations at the 2013 MassTLC unConference, Unpitch is designed to facilitate connections between entrepreneurs and investors. It's NOT about delivering an elevator pitch onstage, a "demo day" presentation, or trying to grab a few seconds with a venture capitalist in a conference hallway. Instead, Unpitch is a chance to have lunch with an angel investor or VC in a casual, no-pressure environment, discuss your business, get meaningful feedback on your ideas, and make connections that will help you get to the next stage.
Unpitch is totally free. The investors are buying lunch for the entrepreneurs… because each of them acknowledges that without great founders, there are no successful investors.
A few things to know before applying to Unpitch…
Space is limited.
Our goal is 25 investors and 60 entrepreneurs, though we may be able to accommodate a few more.
We're giving preference to entrepreneurs who haven't engaged with investors so far, and haven't been through accelerator programs. (Though neither will disqualify you.)
Comfortable sharing your idea?
You'll be eating lunch with one investor and 2-3 other entrepreneurs. Know that you'll be sharing time with others, and you'll need to be comfortable discussing your idea in front of your peers. There will be networking time before and after lunch for any one-on-ones you hope to have with specific investors.
Open to anyone.
You don't have to live in Boston to apply, but you do have to be able to get here on the date of the event. And there are no age limits on applying.
Create powerful new connections.
We make no guarantees about Unpitch, but our goal is to create powerful new connections between Boston's emerging entrepreneurs and its most active investors.
Dates to keep in mind.
You must apply by 9 PM (eastern time, natch) on the submission deadline date to be considered. Entrepreneurs who are accepted will be notified. Thanks for your interest in Unpitch!
